Connecting our communities

As an alternative to building additional lanes on I-380, the Iowa Department of Transportation is studying the cost of providing passenger rail service or an alternative vehicles route over CRANDIC’s line.

Visit the Iowa Department of Transportation website for more information about the I-380 Planning Study.

A 2016 study concluded passenger rail could be offered over a 7.1-mile stretch of CRANDIC’s line between North Liberty and Iowa City at a cost of $40 million.
